Quakers to reduce prices

Darlington are to reduce the cost of season tickets for next season no matter what division they are in.[LNB] Steve Staunton's side are entrenched in a League Two relegation fight which sees them lie 12 points adrift of safety having won only four games out of 27.[LNB] Quakers have games in hand on others and have shown some fighting spirit in recent weeks, however chairman Raj Singh is already looking ahead to next season and is keen to boost attendances.[LNB] He said: We're well aware that we have to make football here at Darlington as affordable as we possibly can, which is why we'll be reducing prices, regardless of which division we're in, after freezing them last summer for the current season.[LNB] There'll be a deadline for fans to take us up on the offer, but this will enable us to get vital cash into the club to give us and the manager the necessary funds to prepare for next season properly.[LNB] You don't need reminding how chaotic everything was last summer, due to the administration and takeover situation, which has ultimately contributed significantly to our current position.[LNB] Thankfully we're now in a position where we can plan ahead and put things in place which will give us the ammunition to build and to recruit players like a normal football club.[LNB] There's bound to be more changes in the summer, irrespective of what happens between now and May, but we can't afford to sit and wait to discover our destiny.[LNB] We need to be in a position to make a strong start in August so we can enjoy a successful season, and getting early season ticket cash through the club's coffers will give us a huge advantage.[LNB] Quakers' gates are the lowest they have been since the club moved to the Arena, and Singh is keen to address the decline.[LNB] Writing in the matchday programme for tomorrow's home game with Chesterfield, he added: We're realistic.[LNB] We know where we are and what we need to do, and we're confident the prices will go down well with our fans.[LNB] I do feel that everyone is slowly tuning in to what we're all about and what we're trying to achieve and hopefully our current season ticket holders, lapsed ticket holders and new ones will all jump on board next season.[LNB] Darlington tomorrow face sixth-placed Chesterfield who thumped Quakers 5-2 in November. But Steve Staunton could have to make changes in defence due to injury so Richie Byrne is on standby.[LNB]
