Quakers through to last 16 of FA Trophy

DARLINGTON booked their place in the last 16 of the FA Trophy with a 4-1 win over Bath City today.[LNB] Goals from Paul Arnison, Aman Verma and a brace for Liam Hatch were enough to see off fellow Blue Square Bet Premier side Bath at The Northern Echo Arena.[LNB] It was a poor first half from both teams, but Quakers had a decent shout for a penalty turned down when new signing Nathan Modest appeared to be brought down in the area after he had been freed by a Hatch flick-on.[LNB] Then on the stroke of half-time, the deadlock was broken when Quakers took the lead through defender Arnison.[LNB] After his midweek wonder goal, Arnison got himself on the scoresheet for the second time this season when he blasted home from inside the six-yard box to put the home side ahead going into the break.[LNB] And barely minutes after the re-start, Quakers were 2-0 up when Hatch blasted the ball home from  inside the area after his initial shot had been blocked by Bath keeper Carl Pentney.[LNB] The visitors had rarely tested Sam Russell in the Quakers goal all game, but they did pull a goal back on 58 minutes with a great solo effort from Adam Connolly, who drilled the ball in off the post after taking on two Quakers defenders.[LNB] But a comeback never seemed on the cards and Quakers restored their two-goal advantage in the 63rd minute when Aman Verma's low shot hit the back of the net after a neat flick-on from Curtis Main.[LNB] Quakers haven't scored four goals at home this season but that finally happened when Hatch grabbed his second of the game in the 75th minute when Bath failed to clear an Aaron Brown free-kick.[LNB] The ball fell to the striker, who made no mistake and finished well from just inside the area to secure Quakers spot in the third round.[LNB] Goals: Arnison (45, 1-0), Hatch, (47, 2-0); Connolly (58, 2-1); Verma (63, 3-1), Hatch (75, 3-1)[LNB] Bookings: None[LNB] Referee: Russell Fletcher (Melbourne, Derbyshire)[LNB] Attendance: 926[LNB] Darlington (4-4-2): Russell; Arnison, Miller, Burn, Brown; Main G Smith, Chandler, Verma; Hatch, Modest.
