Quakers release Clarke

Darlington outcast Joe Clarke has been released and he is expected to to rejoin Solihull Moors.[LNB] For several weeks manager Mark Cooper has been hoping to off-load a handful of fringe players from the wage bill with Clarke among those earmarked for departure.[LNB] That is despite Cooper only signing Clarke in August from Solihull.[LNB] The 22-year-old, who can play both full-back positions as well as in midfield, made ten appearances for Quakers but had not featured since early October.[LNB] He scored the second goal of the game during the 2-0 home win over Gateshead just weeks after his arrival.[LNB] Meanwhile, Darlington are offering cut-price tickets for their FA Trophy quarter-final tie at The Northern Echo Arena against Salisbury on February 26.[LNB] Tickets for the game at The Northern Echo Arena will be priced £10 adults and £5 concessions (over-60s and under- 16s) and are available from today at the club's main reception and from the ticket office on matchdays.[LNB] Season ticket holders have until 5pm on Wednesday, February 23 to buy their usual seat.[LNB] Cooper watched Salibsury in action last night, travelling to Worcestershire to watch their Zamaretto Premier League game at Evesham United that ended 0-0.[LNB] We're in the quarter-finals and we've drawn a team two leagues below us so we can't ask for a better draw, said Cooper.[LNB] I think Salisbury and Chasetown are the two lowest ranked teams left in the competition so we have to see it as a great opportunity to get to the semi-finals.[LNB] You're not going to get any easy game at this stage of the Trophy so we'll give them every respect. The research starts now and I'll be going to watch them at Evesham.[LNB] They still have some good quality players. They had the rug pulled from under them a bit last year and lost a few players but they're flying now and have already won at Wrexham and Woking.[LNB] They'll be similar opposition to Telford who made it difficult for us on Saturday so we're not taking anything for granted.[LNB] But we are the favourites and it's a fantastic chance for us to reach the last four, we have to be pleased with that.[LNB] * Former Quakers defender Alan White has been released by Gateshead.[LNB]
