Quakers look to cup form

AS he prepares to take his side to Blue Square North outfit AFC Telford in the FA Trophy tomorrow, Mark Cooper is hoping Darlington can put their disappointing away form behind them.[LNB] Quakers have only won twice on their travels this season against AFC Wimbledon in the league and at Mossley in the FA Cup, but their away day woes continued on Tuesday night with a 4-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Luton Town.[LNB] After enduring a long journey down to Kenilworth Road and back on Tuesday, Quakers are hoping an overnight stay tonight will help their preparations for tomorrow's game.[LNB] The long journeys can be hard, but we train well and we'll make sure we're ready,[LNB] said the Quakers boss.[LNB] We're going to train at Aston Villa on the way down and try something different and then we'll prepare and stay at a hotel overnight.[LNB] We've not been good enough and we've not won enough games away from home, there's no hiding place or being clever about it.[LNB] We need to win more games. We've drawn too many. I think if we'd maybe won four of the games we've drawn away we'd be right up among it, so that's been a problem. Not scoring enough goals is a big problem.[LNB] After missing the defeat to Luton midweek, Cooper is boosted by the return of midfielder Gary Smith, although defenders Greg Taylor and Adam Quinn are both cuptied after their exploits in the competition with Kettering.[LNB] That could mean a second start for promising young centre-back Dan Burn, who impressed on his debut in the previous round against Bath City.[LNB] Striker Tommy Wright is still suspended after his controversial dismissal at Tamworth, but Chris Senior is back in the squad after recovering from the knee injury which has kept him out since before Christmas.[LNB] Quakers are set for a hectic schedule in the final three months of the season after having so many fixtures postponed due to bad weather.[LNB] Cooper's side face the daunting task of a trip to Crawley at the beginning of April followed by a haul to Newport County three days later, but the boss insists his side must get on with it.[LNB] He said: You're going to have to play them sometime and we don't have many other dates available so we've got to play them. Whenever is available we'll play, we're not going to moan about it. We've just get on with it.[LNB] * The Darlington Supporters Club are running a coach to AFC Telford. It departs from Park Place at 9.15am and costs £25. Call 01325-243911 for more details.[LNB]
