Quakers facing fixture backlog

Darlington manager Steve Staunton has revealed his disappointment at last night's game with Notts County being postponed.[LNB] He says that being without a match denied Darlington the opportunity to atone for Saturday's setback.[LNB] His side threw away a twogoal lead over Chesterfield to lose 3-2, but The Northern Arena playing surface was declared frozen at an 11am inspection yesterday.[LNB] We're gutted the game was postponed, we were ready for it, especially after what happened on Saturday,[LNB] said Staunton.[LNB] The lads were ready to make amends after Saturday's disappointment and they were in good spirits. We were certainly looking to right a wrong.[LNB] But it's frustrating we've had yet another postponement and we have to live with it, I'm afraid. There's nothing we can do about the weather.[LNB] The one slight blessing in disguise is that it gives the lads a few extra days for their legs to recover from the weekend ahead of Saturday's trip to Bradford.[LNB] The games are coming thick and fast so this gives us a little bit of breathing space going into the weekend and we'll certainly be looking to go to Bradford to get a result on Saturday.[LNB] Last night's fixture was Quakers' fifth home game to be called off this season, the seventh match in total, and only added to the backlog of games facing Staunton's side.[LNB] No date for a rearranged game has been set, but there is limited availability due to the lack of free midweeks in Darlington's schedule.[LNB] Most likely dates are March 30, April 27 and May 4. March 16 is unavailable as Notts County play the previous evening.[LNB] The Meadow Lane club, who have said they will not be entering administration following negotiations with creditors, yesterday appointed Steve Cotterill as manager.[LNB] Meanwhile, Darlington fans will be able to see the club's 2010-11 season kits for the first time at the club's fans' night tomorrow evening.[LNB] Supporters voted on their favourite designs from two options for both the home and away strips and the winning kits will be unveiled at the club's Question of Sport event.[LNB] Tickets for the evening at the Ron Greener Suite cost £5 each, which includes food, and can be bought in advance from the Arena reception, by calling 01325 387000, or email commercial@darlingtonfc.[LNB] net[LNB]
