Quakers coaching on offer

Darlington are inviting young supporters to take part in a coaching day tomorrow, which includes a tour of The Northern Echo Arena.[LNB] Former Darlington player Neil Maddsison, now the club's centre of excellence manager, has teamed up with Hummersknott School in the town to hold the stadium tour experience for seven to 13-year-olds.[LNB] He will hold the Soccer Skills Club, costing £15, along with Hummersknott's football development officer Stephen Cheeseman, from 11am until 3.30pm tomorrow.[LNB] It should be another hugely-popular course, said Maddison. It's not just about playing football, either. It's a good chance for the more developed players to enhance their skills with us, but it's also an excellent opportunity for youngsters looking to start out or just have a fun day out.[LNB] The Saturday Soccer Skills Club incorporates a two-hour coaching session at Hummersknott School followed by a trip to the Arena, where Maddison will take the youngsters on a behind-the-scenes tour, followed by a competition.[LNB] The coaching only is also available for £5. Transport will be provided from Hummersknott to the Arena but children need collecting from the ground at 3.30pm, while all youngsters must take their own shirt, shorts, socks, trainers, warm clothes, shin pads, plenty of drinks and a packed lunch.[LNB] To book a place or for more details, call the Darlington FC youth department on 01325- 387015.[LNB] Darlington complete their pre-season friendlies at Gretna's Raydale Park tomorrow (3pm).[LNB] Manager Mark Cooper is looking for a improvement on Monday's performance at Spennymoor when his side were held to a 0-0 draw.[LNB] Meanwhile, the kick-off time for Quakers' game at Barrow on Monday, August 30 has been changed.[LNB] The match was due to kick-off at 3pm but Darlington have agreed to a request by the Cumbrian club to put it back to 7.45pm so the fixture does not clash with the town's Cartmel races and also to accommodate local workers who do not get the Bank Holiday.[LNB]
