Quakers chief refusing to panic

Maddison and Craig Liddle were taking charge of their first game at the helm after Colin Todd's departure and it was Rochdale who triumphed 2-0. Darlington remain rooted to the foot of the table with two points from their opening 10 games and already seven points from safety. But Maddison said: "I've been in worse positions than this before. "I remember down at Southampton we were 10 points adrift at one stage and got out of it. It's a case of everyone pulling together and getting out of trouble. "We tried and almost beat a very good Rochdale side and we caused them more than a few problems. I feel privileged to be managing a side that I have supported all my life. I am a Darlington lad and so I feel it too, when the chairman asked me and Craig Liddle if we would be willing to take over we both jumped at the chance."
