The former Hibernian and Shamrock Rovers player, 22, is expected to be available for Saturday's home game against Torquay in League Two.

Staunton said: "Ross has been training with us for a few weeks and he's a clever little ball player.

"He has a sweet left foot and can pick a pass with a killer ball, which is vital in League Two where it's difficult to break down defences. He'll be a useful addition to the squad between now and the end of the season."

Irvine-born Chisholm began his career with Hibs and made 47 league and cup appearances for the Edinburgh club before being released last summer when he joined Shamrock until the end of last year, playing 12 games in the League of Ireland.
