Todd was named as Dave Penney's successor on Wednesday but has picked up a decimated squad, with Alan White and Pawel Abbott also reportedly on their way out of the Darlington Arena. "At the moment we're starting from square one," Todd told The Journal. "I've not got an assistant manager, a groundsman, there's no kit man, no physio and the squad is slim because some of the lads have got offers they don't want to turn down. And we might lose a few more. "So I'm not left with a lot of players but I'm confident of building a good squad that can play some positive football and get the crowd excited again." The 60-year-old is hopeful that he will be able to call upon his neighbouring clubs to help him build a side and added: "I've already got thoughts about people I might want to bring in, there's plenty that have been released and I'm hoping to get a good understanding with Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Sunderland to take some of their young players."
