Purdie eyeing title charge
06 Feb 2009 - 07:29:01
Darlington midfielder Rob Purdie believes that his side can challenge for the League Two title in the coming months.
The Quakers are currently fifth in the table, but only six points behind leaders Wycombe Wanderers with a game in hand.
Purdie told the Northern Echo: "Wycombe have had a bit of a falter, even though they won last Saturday.
"But if we can beat them at home, then I do not see any reason why we cannot push for the championship.
"If we can find ourselves in first place in the next couple of weeks, then everyone is going to want to catch us and hopefully we can add a little bit of a cushion.
"The win at Dagenham was big. It was a scrappy game and it took us away from them in the table and we have a game in hand.
"It was a massive win for us. A draw would not have been a bad result, but a win was brilliant."
