Darlington manager Dave Penney believes that his side's hopes of automatic promotion might have been ended by a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Bradford City.
The Quakers remain just one point behind third-placed Hereford United, but Penney accepts that injuries and a lack of confidence is affecting his players.
Penney said: "It looks as though we are going to have to go up the hard way and there is a bit of negativity creeping in around the area, but we are trying to keep ourselves positive.
"The first half was excellent and Alan White had a couple of good headers, but we couldn't get the second goal.
"It's important that we get people back because the transfer window has now closed.
"We have another big game coming up on Tuesday and while we still have a chance of automatic promotion, we will put out our strongest side."
