Penney hails patched-up Quakers

Penney's problems were added to before kick-off when concerns arose of the eligibility of on-loan strikers Danny Carlton and Liam Hatch, so they were left out of the squad. To make matters worse, Penney saw Adam Griffin and Josh Gray limp off in the first half, but his patched-up side battled for a well-deserved point. And Penney said: "We were down to just 13 pros. It was 1.30pm when we were told that the two couldn't play so we just said to the players that they had to get their heads right and not use it as an excuse. "They went out and battled away and deserved more than a point, to be fair. We had to change our shape and our personnel very late and it took us 10 or 15 minutes to get ourselves going, but from then on I thought we did okay. "I didn't think that our goalkeeper had a shot to save in anger and the fact that their keeper was named man of the match shows that we did alright. We always had it in our minds to stay in the game and then go 4-4-2 for the last 15 minutes and try and win it, which is what we did. I thought it was a great result considering all the problems that we are having and then the other problems we had before the game."
