Pallister in frame for Quakers job
Former Republic of Ireland coach Staunton became the second manager to depart the club this season on Sunday following Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Barnet. The 41-year-old succeeded Colin Todd in September.[LNB]Head of youth Craig Liddle will take charge of Tuesday's home game with Aldershot, but the club have yet to confirm whether Staunton's assistant, Kevin Richardson, has also had his contract terminated.[LNB]Pallister, 44, and former Middlesbrough team-mate Craig Hignett are both understood to have expressed their interest in the job when Todd was sacked, while ex-Quakers skipper Kevan Hurst had also been in the running when chairman Raj Singh appointed Staunton and would be a popular choice with fans.[LNB]Hurst, who captained Darlington to three promotions in the early 1990s, is understood to be ready to work alongside former Quakers boss Brian Little.[LNB]But another high profile name to be linked with the post, Sheffield United coach Gary Speed, is not expected to consider leaving Bramall Lane for a club almost certain to be playing in the Blue Square Premier League next season.[LNB][LNB]
