Pacey Powell arrives to bolster Darlington

Darlington have announced the signing of striker Daniel Powell on loan from League One side MK Dons.[LNB] The 19-year-old forward joins Quakers on an initial month loan goes straight into the squad to face Wrexham at The Northern Echo Arena tomorrow.[LNB] A lack of goals has this season been a problem for Mark Cooper's side, with the manager keen to add to his attacking options and he believes Powell will offer some much-needed pace.[LNB] "He fits into the system that we're trying to play," Cooper said.[LNB] "He's only 19 but he has first-team experience with MK Dons and has played in the Conference with Crawley and Forest Green Rovers, so he knows the division.[LNB] "He's young and hungry and has the pace that we've been looking for.[LNB] "We're still hopeful of getting another new face in before the weekend."[LNB] Meanwhile, Cooper insists he is happy with the start his side have made to the season, but admits they must start turning draws into wins.[LNB] Quakers are currently on an eight-match unbeaten run, having lost just once this season, and their good form has put them in a good position, lying two points off the play-off places.[LNB] Cooper's men are also the only team in the Blue Square Bet Premier not to have lost away from home, drawing all six and while the manager admits he is pleased with how things have gone, he believes there is still room for improvement.[LNB] "We've done fine," Cooper said. "I think if it was a school report it would be done okay but could do better. So that's what we're striving to do.[LNB] "We've only lost one out of 12 games but we need to win a couple more rather than drawing.[LNB] "I think we've just got to stay up and around the top, we don't want to peak too early and get their too early but the spirit is fantastic.[LNB] "We've got a good bunch of lads and sometimes when you are under pressure that gets you through and we've got a lot of results off the back of that."[LNB] Although Quakers lie in a comfortable position just outside the play-offs, Cooper has made no secret of his desire to further bolster his squad and while he is pleased at the amount of chances the side are creating, he admits the lack of goals is a problem which needs addressing.[LNB] "We're in good shape," the former Peterborough boss said.[LNB] "We're probably still one or two players short, which we're trying to address and if we can keep getting results, we've going to stay at the top end of the table and that's where we want to be.[LNB] "We have created quite a few chances in the last few games. Against Southport we missed too many chances and in the first half against York we missed too many.[LNB] "If you don't start taking your chances then you become under pressure like we did the other night and the defenders have to keep us tight, which they have done but it would be nice to take that pressure off them and give them something to hold on to.[LNB] "I think we've conceded the least goals in the league but we need to up our goals for column definitely."[LNB] Meanwhile, Darlington are re-opening Bar 66 prior to games at the Arena, beginning tomorrow.[LNB] Only bottled drinks (lagers, beers, wines and soft drinks) will be available in Bar 66 between 12.30pm and 2.45pm on matchdays, but will not be open after games.[LNB]
