Darlington manager Dave Penney made Bolton goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazimierczak his sixth signing of the January transfer window on Thursday.

The Quakers boss also released former Sheffield Wednesday defender Patrick Collins after the 22-year-old had dropped out of his first-team plans this season.

"The ones that leave the club are the ones that have not made an impact and I don't think Patrick has played a single minute this season," Penney told the Northern Echo.

"There's no point keeping people hanging about to make the numbers up if you're not going to use them."

On Kazimierczak's arrival, Penney added: "We felt we needed another keeper as cover behind David Stockdale.

"We had him in for training for a week before Christmas and he impressed the goalkeeping coach, Andy Collett.

"There's not many young goalkeepers around of that size and of that ability and we're hoping he can progress as well as Stocky has.

"He's got a bit of experience as he's been out on loan a couple of times."
