Darlington defender Ryan Valentine has admitted that his red card in Saturday's game against Scunthorpe United cost his side victory.
The Quakers looked set to clinch only their fifth win of the campaign when they led 2-0 midway through the second half, but Valentine's 67th minute dismissal turned out to be crucial as the Iron scored two late goals to salvage a point.
To add to Darlington's woes, key striker Barry Conlon was also dismissed in the closing stages.
"My red card was a turning point in the game because that let them back in it," Valentine admitted to the Northern Echo.
"And after that Barry Conlon was sent-off, so the lads held on well for a point.
"I was running at their defence and cut inside, Andrew Kelly came across and took me out. I looked across at the ref and I didn't think he'd given us the advantage.
"I got up and confronted their lad, I went to him and put my face towards him and he went down easily."
