Liddle and Neil Maddison were placed in charge at the Darlington Arena following the departure of Todd afterlast weekend's draw at Grimsby, but an own goal from Jeff Smith handed the Silkmen the three points and extended Darlington's winless run to 11 matches this season.[LNB]Liddle said: "It's the wrong time for me to be honest. I have been asked to do a job for the football club by the chairman, but we need an old head.[LNB]"I feel for Jeff (Smith). He didn't defend the ball well - but he isn't a defender. He is a midfielder who is being asked to do a job for the football club.[LNB]"It was a similar story today to midweek. We had plenty of chances but poor finishing and I feel for young Curtis.[LNB]"We took a chance on Lee Thorpe that didn't pay off and then asked Curtis (Main) to come on and do a man's job when he is still learning the game. He is disappointed that he only headed against the post when he thought that he should have scored."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
