Liddle not in the running

CRAIG LIDDLE has confirmed he does not want to be Darlington's next manager despite becoming the club's caretaker boss for a second time this season.[LNB] Following Steve Staunton's sacking on Sunday, Liddle was in charge for last night's 2-1 home defeat to Aldershot Town having also been handed the reins when Colin Todd left the club last September.[LNB] However, Liddle is content with his role as Quakers' head of youth.[LNB] Nothing has changed from the start of the season when Colin left, said Liddle. I've no desire to take the job so I've told the chairman that he can take his time in appointing someone because the right man has got to come in.[LNB] Hopefully it will happen very quickly. My youth team lads are at Hartlepool on Saturday and I'd have loved a crack at them, but the most important thing is the firstteam.[LNB] Myself and Neil Maddison will look after things, but a new manager coming in quickly would let him asses things for next season.[LNB] Liddle might not be interested in the position, but former Peterborough boss Mark Cooper has emerged as frontrunner.[LNB] He was at the game and boasts a good track record having enjoyed success in non-league with Kettering.[LNB] But a surprise candidate has emerged in former Bristol City boss Gary Johnson.[LNB]
