Last stand for Quakers caretakers

Steve Staunton has been appointed as Colin Todd's permanent successor, with Kevin Richardson as assistant, but caretaker-managers Liddle and Maddison will hand over the reins on Wednesday and face a tough task at Elland Road, where Darlington go in search of just their second win of the season. Defender Paul Arnison stepped off the substitutes' bench in Saturday's defeat to Macclesfield after missing seven matches due to a calf injury and could start in the Northern Section second-round clash. Experienced striker Lee Thorpe (groin) also returned from injury on Saturday and Liddle and Maddison must decide whether to retain him in their starting line-up or recall teenager Curtis Main, who impressed as a second-half substitute on Saturday. Mark Bower (ankle) is still struggling and on-loan Sunderland midfielder Jamie Chandler will sit out the last of a three-game ban following his recent dismissal at Grimsby.
