Leon Knight's move to Darlington is hanging in the balance admits manager Mark Cooper.[LNB] He says there are unforseen problems with the proposed signing which means the 28-year-old may not pull on a black and white shirt afterall.[LNB] Knight has been training with the club for over a week and even joined in the pre-match warm-up at Bath City on Saturday where he had expected to be named as a sub.[LNB] But on Friday evening it emerged a clause in the contract that he signed when at Rushden & Diamonds threatens to scupper the move.[LNB] The striker was sacked by Rushden for breach of contract in 2008 and has not played in English football since, instead spending time in Scotland and Greece.[LNB] Cooper said: "We're still hoping to tie up the signing of Leon very soon, but there are some problems which need ironing out before his clearance comes through.[LNB] "There's an issue between Leon and his former club, Rushden, and he won't be able to sign until his agent sorts that out.[LNB] "I'd been told by his agent only last week that it had been resolved, but clearly it hasn't, so hopefully they can sort it out quickly and Leon can start playing for us soon because he'll be a quality addition to the squad.[LNB] "But at the moment there's nothing we can do about the situation apart from sit tight."[LNB] Knight's agent, Darren Lewis, spoke with a lawyer on Sunday and will resume talks today with the clear being aim to clear the way for the striker to join Quakers.[LNB] But, speaking on Sunday evening, Lewis admitted: "If I can't sort the deal out tomorrow then I would say that the deal is off."[LNB]
