Echo launches new and improved North-East Football iPhone app
THE Northern Echo today launches a new improved version of last season's popular North-East football app.[LNB] Available as a free download from Apple's App Store, Football North East enables football fans to keep up to date with everything that happens in the region this season.[LNB] Featuring a number of improvements to last season's model, the new-look app includes:[LNB] Regular news updates on events at Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Darlington[LNB] Previews and match reports for every match involving a North-East team this season[LNB] A full fixture list, league table and stats section for all of the region's clubs[LNB] A live scores section providing up-to-the-second updates for every game across all four leagues, including matches not involving teams from the North-East.[LNB] A new non-league section bringing together all the latest news and results from the Northern League.[LNB] The Northern Echo first entered the app market with a World Cup app during the 2010 tournament that featured in Apple's list of the ten most downloaded football apps.[LNB] Last season's North-East football app proved even more popular, and it is hoped the new model will prove equally well received.[LNB] The Northern Echo's editor, Peter Barron, said: "The way people get their news and information is changing all the time, and we are keen to use whatever new technology is at our disposal to help keep our readers entertained and up to date.[LNB] "Football fans in particular like to get their news on the move, and the new Football North East app means they never need to miss out on a story involving their club again.[LNB] "We've listened to some of the comments that were made about last season's app, and hopefully we've come back with a bigger and better model."[LNB] At the moment, the Football North East app can only be accessed via an Iphone or Ipad.
