Determined Miller pledges his future to Darlington

Darlington captain Ian Miller has ruled out the possibility of him leaving the club during the transfer window, declaring his determination to stay and lead Quakers battle against relegation.[LNB] A pitch inspection takes place at The Northern Echo Arena at 9am today and the skipper revealed that the players are desperate that tomorrow's home encounter with Port Vale to be given the green light after three consecutive matches falling victim to the weather.[LNB] Darlington were given permission by the Football League to hold the inspection early due to the prospect of freezing overnight temperatures and to give the club the best chance of making an early decision.[LNB] Miller refuses to accept that Darlington's relegation from League Two is a formality and he regards the new year as a chance to draw a line under their disastrous 2009.[LNB] Miller has hailed Steve Staunton's no-nonsense methods and expects the full impact of the new regime to take effect in the second half of the season.[LNB] The gaffer has got rid of the bad apples and the dead wood and I think you'll see when he brings some new players in this month we'll become a better team, noted Miller who has recovered from a hamstring strain and is available for selection.[LNB] I think the gaffer's approach has been exactly what we need but we haven't been doing what we're supposed to.[LNB] Four wins and we're out of the bottom two, it's not an impossible task. Whether it takes the last minute of the last game of the season to keep us up I don't mind.[LNB] We have got to forget what has happened in the first half of the season. It was disastrous.[LNB] We haven't played well enough and taken points when we should have. But we start again from Saturday and hopefully we do well enough to get us out of this position.[LNB] Miller underlined his commitment to Darlington, saying: The gaffer has given me a position at this club and I want to see the football club survive in League Two.[LNB] Last summer some people jumped ship slightly early. I'm not the sort of player who, as soon as the going gets tough, will leave for a nice a club that's winning week-in-weekout.[LNB] I'm quite happy to roll my sleeves up and say let's get out of this together!' I don't want a relegation my CV or to play in the Blue Square Premier.[LNB] I don't think come the end of the season we'll be in the bottom two. We've got enough quality in this squad.[LNB] We have been training hard every day even though the weather's been bad and the boys can't wait to get back on the pitch.[LNB] David Davis has returned to Wolves while Jonathan Hogg, Simon Thomas, Danny Hall and former Port Vale midfielder Paul Harsley's loan deals all expire after tomorrow's game.[LNB]
