Deadline set for Quakers

The administrators have set a deadline of April 20 for any potential buyers to come forward and make an offer for Darlington.

The news of the deadline comes less than a week after former chairman George Houghton invested an extra £150,000 to save the club just hours before it was due to be wound up.

Dave Clark, from administrators Brackenbury Clark, said: "I'm pleased that George Houghton has agreed to provide funds in the sum of £150,000, in addition to the £100,000 that he has provided so far during the administration.

"With this funding, I'm able to confirm that we've been able to ensure that the club will complete its remaining fixtures this season provided that the players and staff continue to be paid part of their salary.

"However, it's vital that the fans continue to support the club in any way that they can to demonstrate to any potential investor what a loyal fan base the club has.

"With regard to investors, we have received indications of interest from a number of parties, but no firm offers to date.

"Clearly, as administrator, we need to begin negotiations at the earliest possible opportunity. With this in mind, a deadline has been set for offers from interested parties of 20 April 2009."
