Cooper hoping to recruit new players

DARLINGTON hope to recruit two players by the time Wrexham visit The Northern Echo Arena on Saturday.[LNB] Manager Mark Cooper admitted after Monday's draw at York City that he still wants another striker and will be speaking to a target before the weekend.[LNB] After the proposed deal for Leon Knight collapsed last week, Cooper turned his attentions elsewhere and he has been linked with 21-yearold former Ilkeston striker Amari Morgan-Smith.[LNB] He was on trial with Carlisle but the Cumbrians yesterday announced that Morgan-Smith was to instead speak to two Blue Square Premier clubs.[LNB] Cooper said: We're speaking to one or two later in the week and hopefully we'll have one, if not two new faces on board.[LNB] We had some young players in the team on Monday.[LNB] Curtis Main came in and did okay and Michael Smith had a go when he went on.[LNB] We're just missing that little bit of know-how in the final third.[LNB] You only get that with experience and I still think we're a striker short, something different to what we've got, and that's what we're trying to get.[LNB] Whether or not Cooper is successful in his striker hunt, he must make at least one change on Saturday as he will be without Paul Arnison following his red card at Bootham Crescent.[LNB] The defender was dismissed for two yellow cards, the second coming in injurytime which disappointed Cooper.[LNB] He was stupid, said the manager. He'd already been booked but then with about 30 seconds to go he dived in.[LNB] He's an experienced player so he should know better than that. I'll praise them to the hilt when they do well, but when you see stuff like that they don't deserve defending.[LNB] He's done really well this year, but that shouldn't happen to a 33-year-old and now he's going to lose his place.[LNB]
