Boss urges side to play for pride

The Quakers have seen their assault on the top seven come unstuck after entering administration last month, losing five out of six games as Penney was forced to field several youth-team players. But after Danny Carlton's goal earned them three points at Lincoln on Tuesday, Penney is challenging his men to salvage some pride by finishing with enough points to qualify for the play-offs had they not have already been deducted 10. He told the Northern Echo: "Immediately after we went into administration I said to the players, 'let's make sure we finish within 10 points of the play-offs, then at least that way we can say that if there hadn't been a deduction we would have been in the play-offs'. "That's the carrot we've given the players, so if we don't finish in the top seven, we can look back and say we should have been. "Hopefully, we've turned a corner and it's the start of us picking up points."
