Abbott earns Penney praise
17 Sep 2007 - 10:08:13
Darlington striker Pawel Abbott won praise from Quakers boss Dave Penney after finding the net in the 2-0 victory over Lincoln City.
Abbott has scored four times in seven games since his summer arrival from Swansea City, leaving Penney pleased with his new-look side.
He said: "Pawel is a finisher and, although he does things that frustrate us at times, he certainly knows where the back of the net is.
"Rob Purdie and Alan White were also outstanding, but it was another great team performance and we could have had a couple more goals to kill them off.
"We kept a clean sheet and if you can do that and you have the players who can score, then obviously you are going to win games.
"We soaked up pressure when they came at us in the second half and then we came back strong towards the end."
