Still backs Daggers to stay up

Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still is confident his side will continue their recent improved form and avoid an immediate return to the Blue Square Premier.

The Daggers looked destined for the drop earlier this month but a 6-2 thumping of Chester City was followed by a fantastic 4-1 victory at in-form Grimsby Town to leave Still in an upbeat frame of mind.

"We haven't done anything differently and, apart from the Hereford game, our performances have been good," Still told the Ilford Recorder.

"However, the goal that wasn't going in for us, now is.

"I think one plus for us is that last season we needed to win every game and that is the case again this year.

"The players are used to that sort of pressure though, whereas maybe some of the other teams aren't."
