Spiller hopeful on Daggers deal

Danny Spiller is on the verge of signing a contract with Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 27-year-old midfielder was released by Millwall at the end of last season and played for Welling United at the weekend.

Spiller said: "My agent spoke to John Still and he showed an interest. I'm pleased because I was left in a difficult position trying to get a deal after being told by Kenny Jackett to come back for pre-season training.

"He said if I came back fit then I could earn a new deal at Millwall.

"For one reason or another he decided to change his mind, so effectively I was let go twice by Millwall.

"Thankfully Dagenham have come in and I'm hoping to play for them this Saturday."
