Southam seeks starting spot

Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Glen Southam has admitted to being frustrated at being out of the starting line-up with the League Two club this season.

The 28-year-old put in a transfer request before the season got underway and has made just one start since then, despite being a first-team regular for the Daggers for several campaigns.

Southam told the Ilford Recorder: "It's not much fun on the bench, I want to be back in there and I'm ready, so let's hope it happens.

"It's been very frustrating this year, especially when the boys are winning. As we know, John Still doesn't like making too many changes, but you can't knock it.

"I'm in my tenth year of competitive football and have never had to sit on the bench before.

"It is hard, especially when you're used to playing week in week out."
