Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Glen Southam has signed a new extended contract running until the summer of 2010 with the Football League newcomers.
The 27-year-old has been a key figure in the Daggers engine room since his arrival from Bishop's Stortford in the summer of 2004, helping John Still's men to the Conference title last season.
Meanwhile, Still is confident that last season's leading scorer, Paul Benson, will have recovered from a knee injury in time for the opening game of the campaign at Stockport County.
He told the Barking and Dagenham Post: "Paul had an operation on his knee in the summer and he's probably a week behind everyone else.
"We could play him now if we had to, but we're not going to push him."
