Foster on comeback trail

Dagenham & Redbridge defender Danny Foster is confident he will back in first-team action before the end of August, after being told he can return to training.

The 23-year-old missed the final two months of last season through injury and was forced to have a double hernia operation in early July.

Foster told the Ilford Recorder: "I've been doing a lot of twisting, turning and moving and it should only be a week or so before I can do some ball work.

"I haven't joined in with the lads yet, but I'm gagging to get back and play now. I'm only a bit behind on fitness.

"I had the operation a month ago and was given a six-week recuperation plan, but I think I'm ahead of that now.

"I don't want to come back too early, but I'd hope to be playing again in around two or three weeks."
