Daggers take over at the top

    29 Aug 2009 - 17:04:14

Dagenham & Redbridge have taken over at the top of League Two thanks to a comprehensive 3-0 home win over Lincoln City.

Jon Nurse netted twice for the Daggers, either side of a Danny Green strike for John Still's side.

Dagenham are joined on 12 points by Bournemouth, who edged out Crewe Alexandra 1-0 at Dean Court and Rotherham United, who won 3-1 at Macclesfield Town.

Liam Feeney was the Cherries' matchwinner, while Adam Le Fondre, Tom Pope and Danny Harrison were on target for the Millers at Moss Rose.

Notts County lost 1-0 at Barnet with Jake Hyde netting a last-gasp winner, while Aldershot Town are seventh after a Scott Donnelly double gave them a 2-1 victory at lowly Grimsby Town.

Burton Albion raced into a three-goal lead after 11 minutes at home to Northampton Town, but were eventually forced to hang on for a 3-2 triumph.

Shaun Harrad and Michel Simpson (2) put the Brewers in charge, but Steve Guinan and Ryan Gilligan set up a tense finale at the Pirelli Stadium.

Shrewsbury Town pushed Accrington Stanley into the relegation places with a 3-1 win at the Crown Ground, with Steven Leslie, Kelvin Langmead and Dave Hibbert the Town goalscorers.

Bradford City saw off Torquay United 2-0 at Valley Parade, while Rochdale won a local derby 3-0 against Bury at Spotland.

Chesterfield and Morecambe drew 1-1 at Saltergate, while Hereford United are still looking for their first win of the season after being held 2-2 by Port Vale at Edgar Street.

Darlington remain bottom of the table, but the Quakers picked up their first point of the campaign from a 1-1 draw at home to Cheltenham Town.
