Dagenham & Redbridge have swooped to sign free agent midfielder Stuart Thurgood.

The 27-year-old former Southend United, Gillingham and Grays Athletic midfielder was available on a free transfer following his departure from the Blue Square Premier side at the end of the season.

"Stuart is a player I've been interested in for three or four years and I'm absolutely delighted to have added him to my squad," manager John Still told the club's official website.

"Stuart is hungry to prove himself back in the Football League and his drive and ambition is something that has impressed me."
