Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still was delighted to snap up young defender Damien McCrory from Plymouth Argyle before the transfer window slammed shut.
The 19-year-old recently impressed during a loan spell with Grimsby Town, but has opted to head to Victoria Road for an undisclosed fee.
Still told the Barking & Dagenham Post: "I watched him last year and he's a player I like. I could have got him on loan earlier in the season, but I wanted to try and get him on a permanent deal.
"He's ambitious and I got the right answers when I spoke to him prior to the move.
"I liked what he said and he has seen what we can do for players, with the amount who have moved on from here, so he wants to make a career with us."
