Benson targets Daggers return

Dagenham & Redbridge striker Paul Benson hopes to be back in action in the next few weeks, as he continued his recovery from knee surgery.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined since early February, with his absence coinciding with the Daggers losing ground in the race for the play-offs.

Benson told the Ilford Recorder: "Hopefully, I'll be back in training in two or three weeks.

"I thought I would be out a bit longer, but the prognosis is good and the forecast is good.

"The rehab is going well, it feels okay and I'm getting stronger all the time."

Benson has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, including a hat-trick in a 6-1 thrashing of Notts County in November.
