Torquay boss Paul Buckle is set to clinch the signing of Dagenham striker Gavin Tomlin on a month's loan. The 28-year-old would become the Gulls second striker signing in two days following the arrival of Ronan Murray from Ipswich on Thursday. "I've made no secret that we need to add to our squad," Buckle told the club's official website. "We've done extremely well this season and I felt the players needed some help for the closing games. "Gavin is something we haven't got in the squad. He is big, strong and has plenty of pace. He also brings extra experience and has been playing in League 1, so there is genuine pedigree. "I am delighted to have both Ronan and Gavin on board. The season has reached a crucial stage and we are hoping for a wonderful atmosphere when we take on Shrewsbury at Plainmoor." Tomlin will go straight into the squad to face Shrewsbury if the deal and necessary paperwork are completed in time.
