The defender is one of several members of John Still's first-team squad who are out of contract in the summer, but the centre-half is keen on extending his stay. Okuonghae told the club's official website: "We're talking with the gaffer and hopefully we can get something sorted." On his award the 23-year-old added: "I'm happy with (the player of the year award). "It's a reflection on me and my team-mates. I play in a good back four and in a good team. I've played a lot of games this season and I've enjoyed it and hopefully we can go again."
