Lillis laments luckless Shrimps
Morecambe assistant manager Mark Lillis feels his side were unfortunate to slip to a 3-1 defeat at Torquay.
Elliot Benyon scored twice and on-loan QPR winger Romone Rose was also on target for the home side, who were initially pegged back to 1-1 after Chris McCready's volley.
Lillis believes luck was against the Shrimps, who had Andy Parrish and Chris Shuker sent off at Plainmoor, and expects a reaction when Sammy McIlroy's men fact Stockport in midweek.
"We will have to pick ourselves up now for Stockport on Tuesday but it's a local derby and so the players will not need any encouragement," said Lillis.
"I thought we did very well for long spells but sometimes decisions don't go your way and that was the case. You saw the character that we had to get back from 1-0 down away from home with 10 men by scoring a fantastic goal but then they went on to get another two.
"It's hard when you finish with nine men but that means that on Tuesday other players will get their opportunity. I am a strong believer that luck - call it what you will - evens itself out over a season and that's why we remain positive. In football you get tough times, you get bad luck but the thing is that you have got to keep your heads held high and keep believing and that's what we will continue to do."
