The Daggers were full value for their victory and took the lead after 25 minutes when centre-back Will Antwi rose highest to head past Tommy Lee for his first goal for the club. Early in the second half Paul Benson took advantage of Kevin Austin's weak header to fire home a stunning volley to double Dagenham's lead before Chesterfield pulled one back in the closing stages through Donal McDermott, on loan from Man City, who beat Tony Roberts at his near post from 18 yards. Harris said: "Chesterfield were a very good side, the best side to come here this season and they gave it their best shot. "But it was a fine performance from every one of our players and we are delighted to pick up the win. "It was a great technique for the goal by Paul Benson. I would like to say we've been working on that in training, but it's just great technique."
