Devlin in Daggers trial

Dagenham manager John Still has handed Dorchester Town player Steve Devlin to chance to earn himself a contract at the club. Devlin impressed for the non-league side in a friendly against the Daggers earlier in July, netting the equaliser in a 1-1 draw. He will link-up with Still's side as they prepare for the start of their npower League One campaign, which commences with a visit to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. The chance to join up with the Londoners could mark a climatic rise for Devlin, who plied his trade for Holt United in the Dorset Premier League last year - eight divisions below League One. Dorchester manager Ashley Vickers told the Dorset Echo: "He goes with our best wishes and I hope he gives a good account of himself. They haven't made an offer for him yet and they won't do unless they want to pursue it after the trial period is up. "Obviously if they do then we would get a fee for him. If he does go then it has to be right for us as a club and for Devs."
