Burnett pondering options

Wayne Burnett will ponder any changes to his Dagenham side as he prepares for the visit of Chesterfield in what is his first home game at Victoria Road since being placed in interim charge.

First-team coach Burnett was on Tuesday handed the reigns until the end of the season following boss John Still's sudden decision to switch to Luton but called for his charges to carry on as normal.

His actions echoed those words as he named an unchanged side for Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Bradford from the one which Still named for his final game in charge at home to AFC Wimbledon last weekend.

Burnett again has a fully-fit squad to select this time out from but could opt to freshen his line-up having played 24 hours later than Chesterfield, who drew 0-0 with Aldershot on Tuesday night.

The likes of Billy Bingham, Kevin Maher, Jake Reed and Dominic Green, among others, are all pushing for involvement.

Captain Sam Hird will return to the Chesterfield squad.

Hird has completed a two-match suspension for racking up 10 yellow cards this season and the former Doncaster defender is expected to slot straight back into Paul Cook's side at centre-half.

Blues boss Cook is hopeful Armand Gnanduillet will also come back into the squad. The big Ivorian striker has missed the last two matches with an abductor problem.

Sam Togwell is available again after missing the midweek stalemate against Aldershot but fellow midfielder Craig Clay is set for a spell on the sidelines with a hernia problem.

Chesterfield have failed to score in their last three outings and Cook joked: "We've worked very hard this (Thursday) morning on putting the ball in the net.

"We've had a very enjoyable morning because we were doing it against no opposition. Hopefully come Saturday when Dagenham players appear, our habits will be good."
