Shots end poor run in style

A goal in each half from Jermaine McGlashan saw Aldershot put an emphatic end to a run of four straight league defeats with a 5-2 victory at Dagenham.

The visitors made the perfect start with two goals inside the opening six minutes.

On three minutes, Adam Smith's left-wing cross found McGlashan unmarked at the far post, for him to slot home from close range.

Just moments later, striker Bradley Bubb raced away from the Daggers defence, his low shot pushed away by keeper Chris Lewington, but Peter Vincenti tapped into an empty net.

The Daggers' afternoon got worse on 38 minutes, Mark Arber giving away a penalty for a trip on Michael Rankine and the forward dusting himself down to score from the spot.

Jon Nurse volleyed in Damien McCrory's corner on 43 minutes to give his side some hope, but on the stroke of half-time Luke Guttridge headed in Anthony Pulis' corner to restore the three-goal lead.

McCrory rifled in a consolation free-kick on 80 minutes, but there was still time for McGlashan to grab his second and compound the Daggers' misery.
