Daggers down Minstermen

Rhys Murphy's second league goal of the season and Brian Woodall's first of the campaign ensured Dagenham claimed three points as they beat York 2-0 in Sky Bet League Two.

Youngster Murphy kept his composure to strike after 36 minutes, racing on to a Woodall through ball to beat the offside trap before rounding stranded York goalkeeper Michael Ingham to tap home right footed from a narrow angle.

The home side did not have it all their own way in the first half, though, visiting striker RichardCresswell twice seeing headers cleared off the line by Daggers defender Brian Saah following good work from Lanre Oyebanjo.

The visitors started the second half brightly too with Michael Coulson seeing a long-range effort deflected just wide of the far post, but the hosts would make York pay for missing opportunities as Woodall sealed their fate 11 minutes from time.

Neatly controlling a long cross-field pass from Femi Ilesanmi on his chest, the striker poked the ball beyond Ingham to give Wayne Burnett's side their first home league win since February.
