Daggers go bottom after defeat

Guy Madjo's second-half winner sunk sorry Dagenham to the bottom of League Two as Port Vale won 2-1 at Victoria Road.

Port Vale keeper Stuart Tomlinson produced a fine double save to deny Josh Scott then Jon Nurse midway through the first half, but Daggers went in front on 23 minutes when Brian Woodall fired in Exodus Geohaghon's right-wing cross to net his first league goal for the club.

The hosts' goal was short-lived, however, as Vale equalised inside 60 seconds when Jennison Myrie-Williams blasted in the equaliser from 25 yards.

Tom Pope's dipping volley was tipped over the crossbar by Chris Lewington at full stretch on the stroke of half time, as Daggers hung on.

After 65 minutes, Port Vale pulled ahead when Taylor crossed for Madjo to fire in at the far post.

Vale had chances to seal the points, but both Pope and substitute Marc Richards had efforts well saved by Lewington.

The home side's best effort of the second half saw Tomlinson push over Brian Woodall's volley from the edge of the box, as Daggers fell to their ninth straight league defeat.
