Arquin strike wins it for Bulls

Yoann Arquin's third goal in four games earned Hereford a vital 1-0 victory and three crucial points against fellow npower League Two strugglers Dagenham & Redbridge.

In a flat first half, Michael Spillane went closest for the home side, but his floated free-kick from 25 yards was easily caught by keeper Adam Bartlett.

The game finally kicked into life on 39 minutes when Arquin headed Hereford ahead. Joe Colbeck's driven corner found the forward unmarked inside the six-yard box to head past keeper Chris Lewington.

Before the interval, Bartlett denied Cristian Montano from close range then Jon Nurse headed harmlessly wide from eight yards after good work on the right from Dominic Green.

The second period was competitive but lacked quality, as Hereford battled to hold onto their lead. Delroy Facey almost sealed the points on 79 minutes but his long-range shot was well held by Lewington, and substitute Tom Barkuizen dragged a low shot wide.

The home side came closest when Eoin Wearen glanced Abu Ogogo's cross wide, as Daggers suffered their first defeat in seven games.
