Simak seals Stuttgart switch

Stuttgart have completed the signing of Czech Republic midfielder Jan Simak.

The 29-year-old has previously played in the Bundesliga for Hannover and Bayer Leverkusen, but has signed for Stuttgart from second division side Carl Zeiss Jena.

Simak, who spent three years at Sparta Prague after leaving Hannover, helped Jena reach the German Cup Final earlier this month and will officially move to the Gottlieb Daimler Stadion in the summer.

"I have a great deal to thank Jena for," he said. "The club and the fans have shown me a lot of faith and gave me a new chance.

"That alone ensures that my thoughts until the end of the season remain exclusively with Jena and the relegation battle."
