Scolari decision pleases Cech

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has welcomed the appointment of Luiz Felipe Scolari as the club's new manager.

The current Portugal coach will swap international football for the Premier League after Euro 2008 and Cech believes the appointment of the experienced Brazilian is a coup for the Stamford Bridge club.

Scolari, 59, will officially succeed sacked former boss Avram Grant on July 1 and arrives with a wealth of experience, having led Brazil to glory in the 2002 World Cup.

Cech was on the losing side against Scolari on Wednesday as his Czech Republic team lost 3-1 at the hands of Portugal in Group A at Euro 2008.

"He is a manager with great charisma, great experience, great results. I look forward to working with him," said Cech.

"I hope that his (past) results are confirmed with us at Chelsea."

Meanwhile, reports claim that Scolari will be given a blank cheque to shape his new-look squad at Stamford Bridge.

Portugal midfielder Deco and fellow current Barcelona team-mate Ronaldinho of Brazil have both been strongly linked with the Blues following his appointment.

Scolari has also reportedly made it his top priority to keep Frank Lampard at the club despite rumours of a potential move to Italy following a breakdown in negotiations over a new contract.
