Czechs to camp down in Wroclaw for Euro 2012

The Czech Republic will set up their Euro 2012 camp in the southwestern Polish city of Wroclaw, where they will play all three Group A games, the Czech Football Association (FACR) said Tuesday.

"We have decided to stay at the Monopol hotel and to use the training centre of the local team," FACR head Miroslav Pelta told reporters.

"We're happy to play three games there. It makes things simple for our fans," he added.

Wroclaw, home of the current Polish league leaders Slask Wroclaw, lies about 350 kilometres (219 miles) southwest of the capital Warsaw, but only 80 kilometres (50 miles) from the Czech border and about 250 kilometres from Prague.

The five-star Monopol hotel is only a few hundred metres from the very centre of Wroclaw.

The Czech Republic kick off the tournament against Russia on June 8. They face Greece on June 12 and hosts Poland on June 16.

In pre-Euro friendlies, the Czechs will take on Ireland in Dublin on February 29 and Hungary in Prague on June 1, said FACR spokesman Jaroslav Kolar.
