Czech Republic captain Tomas Rosicky will miss the rest of Euro 2016 with a thigh injury.

The 35-year-old former Arsenal midfielder suffered the muscle problem during the closing stages of the 2-2 draw against Croatia in St Etienne on Friday.

Scans have now confirmed the extent of the problem, which Czech Republic doctor Petr Krejci expects to sideline Rosicky for between three and six weeks.

Rosicky will remain in France with the rest of the squad, as the Czechs prepare for a crucial final Group D match with Turkey in Lens.

The Czech playmaker, quoted on www.uefa.com, said: "I felt that we needed to push for the three points so I pushed myself harder. I didn't have much strength left and I've paid for it unfortunately.

"Now my team-mates await a fantastic game with everything to play for against Turkey."

The Czech Republic sit third in Group D, with one point, and could still be in contention for automatic qualification into the last 16 should they defeat Turkey and Croatia lose to leaders Spain in Bordeaux.
