Vagner Love targets Russian title with CSKA

Brazilian striker Vagner Love, who has rejoined Russian league leaders CSKA Moscow after a year back home playing with Flamengo, is still hungry for wins and promised to do everything he could boost the Red Army side.

"I missed the classy football which we played in CSKA and I really want to help my beloved club to win the Russian title this year," Sport Express daily quoted the 28-year-old forward as saying.

"It's terrific to return to CSKA, where I feel at home. I spent so many great years here and now, on return, I feel like I have hardly been away."

Vagner Silva da Souza, who received the nickname "Love" for his success with women, said that he was pleased to find out that the club has strengthened its roster with a set of strong players.

"CSKA purchased several strong players - my compatriot Mario Fernandes, the Swedes Pontus Vernbloom and Rasmus Elm," said Vagner, who previously played 244 matches for CSKA, scoring 117 goals.

"Meanwhile, those, who already were in the team a year ago have matured and become stronger. All together we're a serious threat. I have no doubts that CSKA will win the league title and represent Russia in the Champions League."

Vagner said that though he had not been planning his return to Russia, he considered it to be his best possible option given the financial problems of Flamengo.

"The change of the president in Flamengo has caused serious financial troubles for the club," Vagner said.

"That's why when my agents offered me to return to CSKA I gave my agreement almost immediately. Everything was agreed in just three days and I believe it is in everyone's best interests."

Vagner won won two Russian titles (2005 and 2006), five Russian Cups (2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2011) and the UEFA Cup in 2005 with CSKA before his return to Brazil late in 2011.
